What's your short story, Tati?

I was working in a 9-5 job, not feeling fulfilled. I felt a strong need to help create a better world.

When I was still working my 9-5 job, I created Meditaction, to bring together meditation and positive action for a better world. Mindfulness and meditation has been a grounding foundation for me for years, and I know it can be for others as well.

Then, it was time to make a major change in my life, to leave my 9-5 job, so I could really start fulfilling my desire to create a better world.

I uprooted my living arrangements and moved to the Swiss Alps. I sought people who had the same deep goals and values as me.

I have now co-founded Terra Viva, a community and retreat center in the Swiss Alps. We are creating a place where people and nature can thrive together.

Terra Viva will be a space where people live, learn and gather in respective relationship with nature. As the project grows, we aim to host retreats, workshops and events centered on wellness, reflection and sustainable living.

We are very excited and energized, and just getting started!

It has been a beautiful journey of exploration that has brought me immense joy, purpose and a deep sense of connection. And the more I facilitate mindfulness, the more I feel there’s still always more to learn, which is fascinating and one of the reasons I keep being part of The Calm Monkey's community.

Why did you want to become a mindfulness facilitator?

After practicing mindfulness/meditation for over a decade, and getting so many benefits from my own practice, I felt I wanted to be a vehicle to share this and allow more people to experience the benefits of mindfulness too.

I actually started offering sessions before I got certified, and I thought that being certified would equip me with better skills to do it, which it did. I also got certified for credibility reasons and to gain better visibility, and to meet like-minded people coming together around the same practice.

How has mindfulness facilitation been meaningful in your life?

It has certainly brought me joy, purpose and fulfillment. Every time I share a mindful practice with others, I feel I’m doing something that is valuable and adds to people’s lives, and this makes me happy.

As someone who really enjoys bringing people together, it has also been a great way to gather different groups around this practice, and allow people to come together, share meaningful moments and learn with each other.

Now that I am developing Terra Viva, bringing my mindfulness facilitation skills to the community, has also been of great help to ground our mission and to find group alignment.

What did The Calm Monkey's mindfulness facilitator training and certification program do for you?

It has given me the confidence, skills and experience I needed to keep sharing mindfulness facilitation with others.

When I started, I was many times feeling insecure or unsure about what I was saying during facilitation, and by integrating the training’s materials and practices, and also by listening, exchanging, being supported and supporting other facilitators.

I today feel much more at ease,  joyful and self-assured when I am facilitating. The TCM community is like a safe haven for me, where I know I can always come back to when I need inspiration.

Tati's spirit and energy is truly remarkable, and I hope you visit her and connect with her on her Terra Viva platforms.

Warmly,

~Wendy Quan, Founder of The Calm Monkey.
