It is an honour to present this interview with Sarah Moody.
What's your short story, Sarah?
I was working as an employee in a large organization, and was interviewed and selected to be on a new mindfulness facilitator team that was embarking on offering short, over-the-phone mindfulness sessions to the employee community! After being trained, our team members took turns delivering sessions weekly, and this went well!
I later left that organization to start up my own coaching and facilitation business, and ever since then, I deeply integrate mindfulness into all my trainings around emotional intelligence and resilience. I'm excited that I can do this for both individuals and groups!
It's very fulfilling, and I feel that my work is now aligned with my values!
What first led you to mindfulness?
During COVID, I started to meditate regularly and saw a difference in the way I was responding to the world. I was able to move through harder emotions with more ease.
Why did you want to become a mindfulness facilitator?
I wanted to expand my scope as a coach and facilitator to include tools that help people be more present and attuned to themselves and the world around them.
What has been surprising in your facilitation journey?
I'd have to say it's the facilitator community of The Calm Monkey!
I've been involved in a lot of groups and trainings and have rarely seen the depth of care and incredible people continuing to participate in a community over time.
This training gave me the tools and guidance to start leading mindfulness right away. Staying in the community lets me continue to grow and be inspired alongside the other facilitators!
What mindfulness facilitation do you provide?
I use mindfulness frequently - in 1:1 coaching, with groups and in leadership workshops. I teach people mindfulness practices as well as integrate it into other topics I lead.
How has mindfulness facilitation been meaningful in your life?
One of my top values is continual growth, and this allows me to deepen my own practice of self-discovery and also help clients at the same time.
"Our facilitator community is continually sharing learnings and expertise, which is fantastic! I got to share my topic of 'Failing Beautifully', to help explore how we think and talk about 'failure' in our lives. When we change our relationship with 'failure' it can liberate us to try new things and expand our capacity to grow. We can decide what meaning we want to make of our failure!"
It's wonderful having Sarah Moody in our community! She openly offers her perspectives and wisdom, and I wish her continued success!
Warmly,
~Wendy Quan, Founder of The Calm Monkey.
